I took a couple days off of work last week, with the idea being to put some time in on the comic.  I did.  What I didn’t do was post about it, as my sleep schedule has been borked from not having to wake up for work.  What happens with that is I don’t go to bed before midnight so by the time I’m finished working, any blog post will show up on blah blah blah excuses…I finished the second strip and I’m on part 3 of the third.

I’m a little ahead of the 3 day per strip pace from the 1st strip, which is good.  I know I had planned on changing some pages on the site this weekend, but I didn’t really give myself time to do it.  It’s probably for the best, as I need to keep up with the drawing and I don’t think the timing was quite right anyway.

Some things I noticed from looking at drawings from a couple days ago:

  • I have a long way to go, consistency-wise.  My main dude almost looks like a different person from 1 strip to the next.  I was very focused on consistent height, but I neglected looking after the width.  I’m gonna keep after it going forward (excuse the worky buzzwords), but I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to remedy the strips already drawn.  Maybe I’ll fix it during inking.
  • My guns need some work (not my biceps, they’re spectacular).  I had mentioned that I was modeling my rifle off of a toy, and I think that was a mistake.  I looked up some guns on the internet (probably not a smart idea these days re: everything) and picked a few I’m going to use for the strip.  I used to draw guns all the time when I played with my G.I. Joe guys, but I think I’m out of practice (and the guns are newer).  I also have to go back and fix my already drawn guns.

So I’m back on my sleep and posting schedule.  I’m going to see if I can pick up the pace even more this week.  It feels good to have a manila folder filled with drawn frames getting thicker and thicker.
